Cold and Flu Season is Here - Replace Your Toothbrush!

The winter season is nearly upon us, and with it comes the dreaded cold and flu season. After recovering from your cold, Dr. Dumore & Team will tell you one of the most important steps you can take to avoid becoming reinfected is replacing your toothbrush!
Germs are known to linger on the bristles, and you risk prolonging your sickness by continuing to use the same toothbrush. Be smart - keep a spare, just in case! To protect your toothbrush from bacteria all year long, consider the following tips:
• Wash your hands before and after brushing
• Allow the brush to air dry after each use, harmful bacteria dies after being exposed to oxygen
• Store the toothbrush in an upright position to allow water to drain and dry faster
• Replace your toothbrush every 3-4 months. Worn bristles are less effective in properly cleaning your teeth, and can actually be damaging to teeth if used too long!
We hope these tips help! Feel free to call us if you have any questions or ask us on Facebook.

Helpful tips to ease dental fears
Do you find yourself feeling increasingly nervous the closer you get to your next dental or orthodontic appointment? We understand that many people feel this way and we would like to provide some tips to help you feel more comfortable on your next visit. Understand that you are not alone
There are many people out there that are afraid of visiting the dentist for various reasons.
Identify your fears
Write down everything that makes you nervous about going to the dentist. Once you have them written down, scan your list and think about some ways you might be able to overcome them.
Discuss your fears with your doctor
After making a list, bring it in or simply remember what you wrote down and talk about them with us. We take these issues very seriously and by discussing any reservations or concerns with you, we can work toward providing a more comfortable experience.
Avoiding treatment will only increase your fears
By avoiding dental treatment you run the risk of requiring more serious dental treatment. By regularly visiting your general dentist and our team if undergoing orthodontic treatment, you will rest easier knowing that you are keeping your teeth healthy.
We hope you find these tips useful. Feel free to call our office with and questions or concerns you might have! You can also check out this online resource on dental fears. Hope these tips help!
